Talking IS teaching: building reading skills through playful conversations

Did you know that talking is one of the most effective ways to build pre-reading skills in children? Engaging kids in conversation helps them learn new words, express their feelings and explore stories, all of which lay the foundation for reading.

Encouraging word play—such as exploring rhymes, recognizing names and sharing thoughts—builds important language skills. Revisiting favorite books, including our Books-Of-The-Month, can inspire children to share their own stories, sparking creativity and confidence.

The November Play Kit allows kids to creatively explore art without paint! The kit includes cards with fun images of other Preschool children engaged in activities, giving parents new ideas to connect with their little ones.
