Month of the Young Child

April is the month of the young child, and Governor Mike DeWine showed up as a champion for kids in his recent State of the State address. His announcement of new support for child care affordability and access demonstrates his dedication to Ohio's infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The initiatives help support the foundations for our youngest Ohioans.

Two major supports include the Child Care Choice Voucher Program, assisting over 8,000 Ohio families who earn up to 200% of the federal poverty level (less than $60,000 for a family of four) with much-needed relief in accessing quality child care services. For providers, the Child Care Access Grants support early childcare and education providers to increase capacity, complete repairs, or provide additional support to staff and families, especially those with exceptionalities.

Last Thursday, we held our third annual Excellence in Education awards with over 200 Preschool Promise teachers, administrators, coaches and supporters in attendance. Join me in congratulating our seven award winners, who you can read more about in this newsletter.

Enjoy the beautiful weather,
