Let's Get Fired Up About Reading!

Ready to Read, in partnership with Omega CDC Hope Zone, recently held family kickoff events at Fairview Elementary, On Purpose Academy, WestPark Academy and Mini University at The Hope Center. Family Connections Manager Hertia Mims and the Hope Zone coaches unveiled the Family Book Club, 50 Book Reading Challenge and shared the benefits of reading to children early. With built-in incentives, the ultimate goal is for families to read 100 books by June.

“We will support families by providing books, children’s storytime at participating sites and literacy workshops for parents,” says Mims.

Each child received a backpack with books and literacy games. Families can find additional books by visiting Dayton Metro Libraries or Preschool Promise Little Free Library locations located near Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, the House of Bread and Stepping Stones Learning Center.
