Our Scholars program is excited to announce a partnership with Youthworks and Montgomery County, designed to provide high school students and recent graduates with an immersive experience in the field of Early Childhood Education (ECE). This opportunity, known as the Jr. Scholars Internship Program, is geared toward high school sophomores, juniors, seniors in the 2024-2025 academic year, and recent graduates who have an interest in ECE.
The Jr. Scholars Internship Program is a two-phase initiative aimed at providing foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in ECE. In Phase 1, participants will engage in a four-day introductory series that offers an in-depth exploration of the ECE career field, equipping students with essential background knowledge.
Phase 2 is an eight-week internship experience at a Preschool Promise site, where participants will gain real-world experience in ECE settings. This phase includes comprehensive training, coaching and mentorship to ensure students are learning and applying best practices that align with state standards.
This collaboration between Youthworks, Montgomery County and our Scholars program is intended to support the next generation of ECE professionals. Phase 1 of the program begins in November. For more information on the Jr. Scholars Internship Program or to apply, please contact Dr. Tennille Love.
