Ready to Read Hosts Bedtime Stories at the Boonshoft in Partnership with Omega CDC Hope Zone
On December 19, 2024, the Ready to Read team, in collaboration with Omega CDC’s Hope Zone initiative, hosted a memorable "Bedtime Stories" event at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. Supported by a dedicated group of community volunteers, this event brought families together for a fun-filled evening focused on early literacy and connection — all at no cost to attendees.
The event showcased the five essential early literacy practices: Talk, Read, Write, Sing, Play. Families explored engaging activities throughout the museum including a free book fair, where each child selected a book to take home and enjoy. Stories were brought to life by guest readers in the museum’s iconic treehouse, while Power Panda made special appearances, offering hugs and photo opportunities for attendees.
Families also had the chance to register on the Beanstack app, a tool for tracking the books they read together. Since the event, families have logged more than 100 books, reinforcing the joy and habit of reading at home.
The turnout was incredible, with nearly 400 adults and children participating in the evening’s activities. This event underscored the importance of community partnerships in promoting literacy and provided a meaningful opportunity for families in the Hope Zone community to come together.
Thank you to everyone who supported and participated in this special event. Together, we are helping to build a brighter future, one story at a time!
